The History of Nightingale Nursing Group Inc

Nightingale Nursing Group was established as Saskatchewan's first independent group nursing practice in 1979 with the support and guidance of the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses' Association. Initially, members were Registered Nurses whose mission was to provide clients in hospital and at home with comprehensive, client-centered nursing care and consultation on a direct access basis.
In response to expressed needs within the community for coordinated, affordable services, Nightingale Nursing Group expanded to include Licensed Practical Nurses in 1983 and Home Helpers and Home Handymen in 1988. This broader focus reflected a growing awareness that factors that promote client independence and overall quality of daily life also promote health.
Nightingale Nursing Group remains responsive to the community's changing needs, and continues to expand into new areas of health care and auxiliary services.
Its Vice President of Nursing coordinates the three divisions of the Nightingale Nursing Group - Northern Nursing, Occupational Health and Training and Nursing and Home Help. A Northern Nursing Coordinator assists with the day to day management of the Northern Nursing Division. Five additional Registered Nurse Coordinators assist with the day-to-day management of the Nursing and Home Help Division. A Vice President of Operations, Accountant and an Administrative Assistant complete the office staff.
